For me, this is probably going to be the most awkward thing I will ever write. I hate asking for help. I have always been the type of person to do things on my own even if it meant I had to struggle along the way. Unfortunately, there comes a time when help is needed. So, I am creating a donations page for a few different reasons.
The first reason is, I am creating a children’s book series on handling emotions. Growing up, I never really had the chance to understand emotions, or how to handle them. Guiding the next generation is one of my goals in life. They are our future, the ones we will look up to when we can no longer do the things we were once able. I believe setting a good ground foundation like handling emotions can help kids overcome and succeed in life. However, it takes money to do this and being a stay home mom with bills to pay, it takes a lot longer to save for these expenses. Especially when you are writing for pennies. I have already written out two of the books, the next step is character creation and pictures.
The second reason is I have written a prompt journal called 365 days of self-reflection. The goal of this self-prompt journal is to create mindfulness and to help people reflect on themselves. The journal is divided into 7 categories:
- Goals, Values, Morals
- Friends and Family
- Outside Influences
- Healthy Living
- Being there for others
Each category has questions to help people have a better understanding of who they are, see if there are any changes that need to be made within, and to be a guide to help people overcome some of the darker things within their minds.
Furthermore, if this prompt journal does well, I will be presenting it to a middle school board to hopefully spark their interest in combining it with an English class. Middle school is where kids begin to become more self-aware. I wish to help them become more aware of themselves and of the others around them. I will be using a percentage of the sales from the prompt journal to supply them to the participating schools. This way the schools do not have to worry about finding funds for the journal. They would only have to provide a small portion of time at the beginning of a class.
Unfortunately, this too takes money to get it out into the world.
The last reason is I want to start gathering items to donate to the people in need. This includes donating to homeless shelters, women and children’s centers, and mental health facilities that are homes to many. I want to donate items like sleeping bags, hygiene products, clothing, backpacks, journals, coloring books, bottles, tents, food packages, and more.
Many people are hesitant about where their money goes; if it is going to the right cause, the fear of being swindled, etc. So, I am also renting a PO box to supply a way for people to donate items, instead of cash. Maybe someone has old clothes, jackets, shoes, things they don’t need or want any longer that they can donate to someone in need.
This will also be a location where you can send pictures, handmade crafts, and encouraging letters to people who are going through hard times. I am in the process of collecting letters to give to people in hospitals, homeless shelters, and other places that provide shelter for those in need. Sometimes an encouraging letter can bring hope and happiness through difficult times.
As you can see, I have major plans for the future not just for myself, but for many. One person might not be able to change the world by themselves, but they can help inspire people to take action. I had to come to the realization that I alone can only do so much.
This world has so much darkness, I want to inspire others to be a light, help others, and find themselves along the way. Donations aside, I will continue to fight for the light and help others. Thank you for taking the time to read this page, if you decide to donate it is greatly appreciated.
